July 19, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Discount domain registration provider, and sister company of Web hosting firm Globat.com (globat.com), DomainsAreFree.com (domainsarefree.com) announced on Tuesday that it has celebrated its one year anniversary, having sold thousands of domains at a price of $3.99.
The company launched in 2004 with an aggressively low pricing, and one year later continues to provide .net, .org, .info and .us domains at the same price. The company says it has retained its status as the lowest-priced provider of domain registrations.
In addition to its low-priced domain offering, DomainsAreFree offers, as its name suggests, domains for free, provided the customer signs up for a Web hosting account with Globat.
"When we launched DomainsAreFree.com's $3.99 pricing a year ago, most registrars were charging between $7.99 and $35.00 for domain registrations," says Globat's CEO, Ben R. Neumann. "Little has changed. Other companies have had time-limited offers on cheap domain names, but none has been able to consistently offer rock-bottom priced domain names in the way DomainsAreFree.com has. We're still charging just $3.99, and plan to continue with this strategy."
