October 15, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- COLT Telecom (colt.net), a pan-European provider of communication solutions, said yesterday that it has been selected by Regus, a provider of full service office facilities, to provide managed storage and Web hosting services.
Under the terms of the contract, COLT is managing the storage and hosting requirements for all of Regus' Web sites, running its network infrastructure and supporting its business applications in a storage area network (SAN) environment. In addition, COLT will be managing Regus' intranet and internal business applications.
"Regus is yet another example of a global organization that has been impressed by the quality and reliability of COLT's pan-European network, and our range of managed data, storage, hosting and consultancy services," said Bill Soules, director of data center solutions for COLT. "We look forward to working closely with Regus to enable them to deliver world class business communications solutions for their customers."
According to COLT, Regus migrated all of its systems to a COLT Telecom data center. It then completed a server consolidation project for Regus and is currently working on implementing a disaster recovery solution.
COLT said its solutions would allow Regus to deliver faster response times and higher availability to its customers.
"As we open up new business centers and win new customers, our data storage requirements increase exponentially. We therefore needed a scalable and reliable solution and decided that the best option was to migrate our systems from our own internal data center to that of a network provider with data center expertise," said Mike Brockington, chief information officer at Regus. "With state of the art data center facilities, wholly owned pan-European network, together with its hosting, storage, and data services expertise, COLT was the ideal choice of partner."
