July 23, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- BulkRegister (bulkregister.com) announced yesterday that it is accepting pre-registration for the .kids.us domain name. Pre-registration will remain open until 11:00am EST, August 15.
The .kids.us domain is intended to provide an Internet domain for younger Internet users, protected from Web content and advertisements aimed at mature audiences.
The company also announced that it is accepting defensive registrations for holders of registered trademarks and service marks.
A "Sunrise Period" will give trademark holders the opportunity to protect their brand identity before the domain opens to the public on September 4, 2003.
Businesses who register during the sunrise period must have registered or applied for trademarks at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on or before December 31, 2002. In order to pre-register, a business' trademark serial number and requested domain name must exactly match those on file at the USPTO.
BulkRegister is an ICANN-accredited registrar based in Baltimore, Maryland.
