October 18, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- European data center operator TeleCity (telecity.com) announced on Tuesday that communications solutions provider BT (bt.com) chose its core infrastructure services and fiber connectivity to help facilitate broadcasting of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
BT is providing European connectivity to cover the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. TeleCity will provide fiber connectivity between BT servers and Telecom Italia's network in its Harbour Exchange data center in London, leading up to the games and throughout its entire duration.
"TeleCity offered us the most appropriate data center environment and infrastructure for this particular event," says Martin Maters, general manager of data transport services for BT Global Services. "Their carrier-neutral services demonstrate consistently high levels of performance, which is imperative for an event of this magnitude."
