"This facility will allow bayMountain to offer Central Virginia and Tidewater a local data center and hosting company that is on par with the best facilities found in Washington, DC or Raleigh, North Carolina," says Gene Wahnefried, CEO of bayMountain.
BayMountain's Tier-1 data center is designed with N + 1 and N + N levels of redundancy. The facility includes dual gigabit access to multiple OC-48 Internet backbone connections, four 500kVA UPS units, a 2MW Caterpillar diesel generator, automatic switching gear, 300 tons of environmental conditioning provided by 10 glycol-cooled computer room air conditioners and redundant cooling towers, internal and external security cameras, dual biometric hand scanners with a mantrap, locked cabinets and cages for equipment and twenty hour a day, seven day a week monitoring and management.
