According to Akamai, both courttv.com and thesmokinggun.com experience significant surges in traffic during major trials, or when breaking major news stories with the publication of exclusive documents.
Monday night's Michael Jackson verdict announcement brought courttv.com an increase of over 1000 percent in Web site traffic in the hours following the decision. The site drew in close to 25,000 hits per second from eager visitors waiting to hear the verdicts and read more about the courtroom proceedings.
