December 21, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Thursday it has expanded its KVM over IP offering across its range of servers and in each of its six data centers.
KVM, which stands for "keyboard, video and mouse", enables customers to remotely install software, and manage the operating system and complete software stack from any computer with Internet access. The Planet offers customers the Lantronix SecureLinx Spider KVM solution, which enables them to completely manage and control their servers at the console level to simplify troubleshooting for their systems.
"Our customers are technically sophisticated, so having unfettered access and control at the console gives them the peace of mind they require when they have critical applications in a hosted model," says Urvish Vashi, director of product management of The Planet. "The Planet has established a leadership position in the hosting market, and one of our priorities is to empower customers with the technologies they require. Previously we provided KVM only to our elite private rack customers. Today, every customer now has these capabilities, even if they are hosting a single server."
The company is offering a promotional price of $30 per month for KVM (theplanet.com/kvm-promo/). The company is also reducing setup fees from $100 to $50, through January 31.
