Their cash contributions were matched dollar for dollar by the company, and they donated toys at company locations nationwide. The average cash contribution from each participant was $45. This year's drive has already surpassed last year's total of $50,000.
"Because every child deserves to be happy at this time of year, Verizon Business and its employees nationwide helped the company present gifts for Toys for Tots," says Terri Dean, senior vice president of global communications for Verizon Business. "Our goal was simple: unite the goodwill of our employees with matching company dollars to help put a smile on the faces of thousands of deserving children."
In addition to Virtual Toy Drive, Verizon Business has provided a videoconference linking Marines in Iraq with their loved ones at Camp Pendleton, and has offered free calling during the holiday season to US troops in Iraq to help military families and loved ones stay connected around the world.
