December 8, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REIVEW) -- A data center housing Microsoft (microsoft.com) adCenter data reportedly caught on fire this week, leading to a significant drop in ad impressions from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast areas of the United States, according to reports on WebmasterWorld.

According to a facility support representative, there was a large fire in one of the major data centers on the East coast that feeds adCenter ads and all the servers were burned and destroyed. However, the rep claims that none of the ads or data was actually lost. The damage only served to disrupt the distribution of services.
WebmasterWorld says its official adCenter representative, adCenter411, reported that there wasn't a fire at any of the adCenter facilities and rather simply a delivery issue that is still being looked into.
The report suggests that the disruption may have cost Microsoft some potential business.
