November 26, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Software as a service delivery provider OpSource (opsource.net) announced on Monday that data-centric protection solution provider WhiteNoise Systems has chosen OpSource On-Demand to deliver SecureNOW!, a new on-demand application that protects data at the point of creation, eliminating exposure of sensitive data due to incidents like thefts of laptop and desktop computers.
WhiteNoise Systems says that SecureNOW! uses a proprietary algorithm to digitally "shred" a document into eight unrecognizable fragments after it is created, storing the fragments in different remote locations. When a user needs to view or edit the document later, SecureNOW! retrieves the fragments and reassembles them, says the company.
"WhiteNoise Systems' new application builds on something we've long believed here at OpSource, that confidential data is safer in a SaaS application than it is on the hard drive of a worker's laptop," says Treb Ryan, CEO of OpSource. "We are happy to help WhiteNoise Systems take that concept a step further by storing file fragments in separate locations, so that no single server stores a useable copy of sensitive data. And we appreciate that WhiteNoise Systems recognizes our unique strengths as a SaaS delivery partner."
Earlier this month, OpSource selected the Oracle SaaS platform to add support for Oracle Database as a standard component of OpSource's Web application delivery platform, OpSource On-Demand.
