November 5, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) announced on Monday that StatCounter (statcounter.com) has reached a significant milestone, adding its hundredth server to the company's world-class data center infrastructure.
StatCounter, which provides 1.5 million global customers with free website traffic analysis, uses The Planet's data centers in both Houston and Dallas, including its high-end private racks. The increase in server capacity reflects the rapid growth of StatCounter, which added 242,000 new members during the first half of 2007. The company now has 1.5 million members, which is up 50 percent from 0.9 million in June 2006.
"StatCounter is a great example of the new wave of entrepreneurial Internet companies that harness the Web to create global businesses using hosted IT services," says Steve Kahan, The Planet's VP of marketing and product management. "We've watched StatCounter's tremendous trajectory, as they've grown from a single server into a significant customer powerhouse. By minimizing IT costs and maximizing The Planet's powerful scalability, and world-class network and data centers, StatCounter can focus on what they do best: provide their members with website traffic analysis."
A recent report by Frost & Sullivan's Stratecast Partners confirms StatCounter's experience that owning and operating its own IT infrastructure is far more expensive. Using The Planet's hosted IT solutions, companies can reduce costs by more than 75 percent over three years, says The Planet. The white paper can be downloaded here.
The Planet announced last month it launched its Triple Play promotion for all new server orders.
