October 25, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Telecommunications provider Verizon Business (verizonbusiness.com) announced on Wednesday it is now offering retailers and financial service providers stronger safeguards for protecting credit card holders' confidential data.
Verizon Business is among the first major service providers hosting confidential data for credit card payments to implement strict industry standards, enabling companies to better combat online theft. Verizon Business has successfully implemented the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard into its two US managed hosting Smart Centers and achieved compliance with the Visa USA Cardholder Information Security Program for its transaction services network.
"We are going the extra mile by providing our customers with the building blocks to enable them to bolster their security," says Michael Marcellin, VP of product marketing for Verizon Business. "By strengthening security at our two US Smart Centers and on our Transaction Services Network, we are empowering our customers to better protect their customers."
The company is also hosting a Webinar today at 1 p.m. EST, entitled "Better Security Through a Proactive Approach." Robert Vescio, director of security management programs for Verizon Business, will discuss the importance of embracing a proactive, ongoing information security program. Interested participants can register for the session here.
The company announced last week it is offering all users access to its Internet Security Suite in light of October's national Cyber Security Awareness Month.
