October 17, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Security solution provider Panda Software (pandasoftware.com) announced on Monday that it had joined the group of security firms arguing that Internet service providers should play a more active role in purging malware before emails reach inboxes.
The companies argue that the content of Internet traffic is a quality-of-service issue, and that ISPs, the providers of the utility, should be more responsible in the ensuring of its quality.
Panda Software and other security firms believe email filtering can be much more aggressive, and can take place earlier in the delivery process, because malware often originates from known bad sectors of the Internet.
Email security and management service provider MessageLabs and telecommunication provider BT have already begun dealing with the situation by installing their own spam filters, which will be used to clean their broadband supply and help subscribers to sanitize their PCs.
