Founded by Danish entrepreneur Bo Bendtsen, UK2.net was initially a discount domain names provider, however, over the past 10 years, UK2.net has grown into one of the UK's biggest and most successful hosting providers.

The UK2 Group (www.uk2.com) now boasts a large portfolio of hosting services including Web Hosting, E-commerce, Reseller Solutions and Dedicated Servers through its family of hosting brands including UK2.net, midPhase, 10TB.com, Resell.biz, WingSix, AN Hosting, US2.net, Autica, Supreme Support, and most recently Australian reseller hosting provider Dotable.

Indeed, the last 12 months have been a very busy year in acquisitions for UK2, with a series of high-profile take-overs beginning in October 2007 when the UK2 Group acquired Web hosting provider Stargate (www.stargate.com), quickly followed by the group's late December acquisition of shared and virtual private server hosting provider midPhase (www.midphase.com).

In July, data center solutions provider ServerCentral (www.servercentral.com) approved the sale of its WingSix (www.wingsix.com) hosting brand to the UK-2 Group. Last week, the UK2 Group bought community-focused Web host Dotable (www.dotable.com), bringing with it over 10,000 domains and a substancial number of resellers.

Offering a promotion because of an occasion is nothing new for UK2, which offered multiple Christmas promotions last year, including three free domains when customers signed an annual contract. It also partnered with non-profit organization World Vision for its "Buy A Server, Give A Goat" promotion, which throughout December, UK2 donated a goat to an African village each time a customer bought a Gold or Platinum server or a quarterly or annual Bronze or Silver server.
