October 4, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Eleven2 Hosting (eleven2.com) announced on Wednesday that it is offering new anti-spam features to prevent spam from reaching iPhone inboxes.

Eleven2 says the custom-built spam protection combines anti-spam hardware appliances and in-house designed software to filter 99.9 percent of spam for iPhone email users, improving their user experience and lightening the load on Eleven2 servers.
Eleven2 has set up an anti-spam scan engine, which uses a layered approach to increase "kill" rates while at the same time keeping false positives to a minimum, says the company. Spam emails are identified through spam signature files and updated rules, which are designed around actual identified spam, doing away with guessing and leading to extremely low false positives. Other enhancements include heavily tweaked IMAP configurations, redundant inbound mail servers and automated outbound IP address switching to prevent blocked sending of emails.
"More and more people rely on accessing email primarily from mobile devices," says Rodney Giles, CEO and co-founder of Eleven2. "We've seen how spam can cripple employee productivity through deluged inboxes and how spam can bring company networks to their knees. We look to proactively tackle this problem so that iPhone users can experience email the way it was meant to be, with only actual messages in their inboxes."
