October 3, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Internet services provider Tucows (tucows.com) announced on Friday it has partnered with web hosting and online marketing services provider Web.com (web.com) to offer Tucows' OpenSRS Personal Names service.
Through this new collaboration, Web.com says it will now offer personalized email and web addresses for customers looking to showcase their name brand for their business.
According to the company's most recent announcement, OpenSRS Personal Names is ideal for small business owners, sole proprietors or SOHOs looking to showcase and associate their name brand with their company within their email or web address, such as amy@smith.net for their email address and amy.smith.net for their web address.
On its website, Tucows says the personal names service gives resellers "white-label access" to its portfolio of common North American and European last names, consisting of over 39,000 domains, and the "Personal Names service can offer a suitable domain name for the top 100 surnames in the US."
"As a market leader in providing online services to small and medium-sized businesses, Web.com's selection of our Personal Names service underscores the importance of email to customer retention for service providers," says Elliot Noss, president and CEO of Tucows. "Too many service providers are content to let their users get email from Google, Yahoo or Microsoft without realizing the cost to their business. Web.com recognizes that a quality email experience with a great, personalized email address is appealing and important to keep customers happy, retention high and word-of-mouth growing."
Near the end of July, Tucows, in a rather flashy manner, re-launched the OpenSRS (opensrs.com) brand as the name for the company's reseller services business - the part of the company's business most relevant to the hosting community.
As part of its OpenSRS marketing efforts, Tucows also released a series of short videos featuring some of the people who work behind the OpenSRS brand.
