October 1, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- IT infrastructure solutions provider Terremark Worldwide (terremark.com) announced on Monday that it has started construction on a $250 million data center project in Culpeper Country, Virginia.
According to reports, the data center project is expected to put Culpeper County on the map as a safe spot to store data. Terremark says the first facility will contain 50,000 square feet and it plans on building four more, each at 100,000 square feet, for a total of 450,000 square feet of data center space in Culpeper.
Terremark's managing director for the Virginia data center, Norm Laudermilch, says that the company wants to satisfy the security and geographical requirements that federal agencies and government contractors enforce on data centers. The company is also aiming to provide better protected and higher-quality commercial space through this investment, says Laudermilch.
