Macquarie Signs $1M Global Red Deal

By Justin Lee, theWHIR.com

September 30, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Macquarie Hosting (macquarietelecom.com/hosting) announced on Tuesday it has signed a three year, $1 million deal with Australian marketing agency Global Red (globalred.com.au) where it will provide a fully-managed dedicated virtualized hosting solution.

Under the terms of the agreement, Macquarie Hosting will host Global Red's mission critical CRM, campaign management and analytical applications for key clients including NRMA, Priceline and Toyota.

Macquarie's hosting solution will help meet the needs of Global Red's further planned expansion, which has already seen a growth of 200 percent in the last 12 months, says the company.

The customer announcement follows last week's launch of Macquarie Hosting's software as a service Incubator Sandpit for SaaS providers, designers, integrators and independent and enterprise developers.

Global Red provides marketing campaigns via web, electronic direct mail, SMS, call center, point-of-sale and customer loyalty programs, which help to generate average customer traffic volumes in the millions per month for clients, says the company.

The NRMA More4Members customer loyalty program currently has more than 2.2 million members and Global Red says it expects an additional 300 percent growth when State-based clubs sign up.

Macquarie Hosting says its high-availability, scalable and fully managed dedicated virtualized infrastructure will enable Global Red to rapidly deploy additional multichannel targeted marketing campaigns for new clients.

Global Red performed a thorough assessment of hosting providers before selecting Macquarie Hosting, citing the web host's "proven experience with online and transaction based businesses" as reasons for choosing the company.

Additionally, the company says Macquarie's ability to scale CPU memory and disk storage in low time were also critical factors, as it would ensure around-the-clock, low latency availability of mission critical applications and the help of technical experts to support local growth.

"It is critical for Global Red to be able to provide our clients with the fastest path to deliver market leading initiatives and targeted cut through campaigns," says Mark McCormick, managing director at Global Red. "We also need to ensure that our customers have a smooth and reliable experience when they interact with the brand across all channels. The Macquarie Hosting solution gives us access to best-of-breed infrastructure, which scales rapidly with our business without the need to invest in additional hardware."

The VMware ESX Server 3.5 managed hosting platform is specifically designed to help Global Red manage peaks in demand, while Macquarie's dedicated firewalls and an EMC Clarion SAN with secure meshed network offer added security.

The applications will be housed on Macquarie Hosting servers in its ISO and DSD Gateway certified data center, the Intellicentre.
