September 18, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator Managed Data Holdings (manageddataholdings.com) announced on Thursday it has named John McCreary as general manager of its recently acquired, 86,000 square-foot data center in Oak Brook, Illinois, operating under the Stargate (stargate.com) name.

The hiring follows another recent appointment of Don Goodwin to executive vice president of sales, marketing and channel partnerships.

McCreary brings over 15 years experience of growing managed services and colocation businesses in the Chicago market.

He will lead the day-to-day operations of the data center, including the overall management of data center operations and personnel, customer service and satisfaction and customer growth within the facility.    "We are delighted to have John join the MDH team," says Evans Mullan, chief operating officer of Managed Data Holdings. "His experience, particularly with our target base in the Midwest, will be of great value as we add customers who need high density and managed services solutions." Throughout his career, McCreary has built his own IT security services business, start-ups and established businesses in the Chicago area.

He has also held many senior sales and sales management positions with companies such as AT&T and Edge Technologies, most recently serving as general manager for ANET, a Landmark Communications company in downtown Chicago, where he held a role similar to the one he will perform at Stargate. Located in Oak Brook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, the Stargate facility provides premium colocation, managed services and managed hosting solutions to its customer base. Managed Data Holdings acquired the facility last month, which it says it will continue making success-based investments into infrastructure upgrades.

Managed Data Holdings operates data centers across suburban Tier I and Tier II markets in the US, offering managed hosting, managed services, colocation space and disaster recovery services to SMB customers or divisions of large enterprises.
