September 16, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Hosting.com (hosting.com) announced it is participating in the VMware vCloud Initiative by showcasing its CloudNine (cloudn9ne.com) solution at VMworld 2008 (vmworld2008.com).
VMware 2008 is expected to draw a record 14,000 attendees at the fifth annual virtualization conference being held this week at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
In a separate announcement today, VMware said it opened a new, virtual data center operating system to tie together hardware resources including servers, storage and network, into an aggregated, on-premise cloud, making data centers more elastic, self-managing and self-healing.
Hosting.com will be an original member of the VMware vCloud partner ecosystem, and will collaborate with VMware to create standard APIs and services for VMware vCloud partners, enabling organizations to seamlessly extend their traditional IT infrastructures into the cloud.
"The VMware vCloud Initiative can revolutionize the hosting industry just as the virtual private server did in the early 2000s," says Darren King, CEO of Hosting.com. "The VMware Infrastructure suite allows Hosting.com to provide a secure, scalable utility solution -- CloudNine -- to provision, support and consult with clients at a level previously unavailable in the hosting industry."
Hosting.com uses VMware virtualization in its data centers throughout North America, with the VMware platform acting as a critical component of CloudNine., which is currently available in both production and beta.
Through its participation in the VMware vCloud Initiative, Hosting.com says it will provide cloud computing services and benefits to businesses of all sizes.
Hosting.com deployed a complete, standards-based architecture to create CloudNine, as well as worked strategically with manufacturers such as Radware, HP, Cisco, and Fortinet to ensure the security, reliability and availability of CloudNine.
Hosting.com provides dedicated hosting, managed hosting, colocation, disaster recovery and business continuance services to a global customer base.
