September 12, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Carpathia Hosting (carpathiahost.com) announced on Wednesday that it has selected Riverstone Technology Park in Halifax County, Virginia as its hub for mission critical, SCIF, SAS70 data center services. Carpathia's plans to add approximately 20,000 square feet of raised floor data center space to the existing class A office building on the 165 acre campus.
The five year plan includes the design build and management of over 300,000 square feet of tier 3 and 4, high security raised floor and/or SCIF raised floor. The campus will include a location well outside of Washington, DC's Federal "blast zone", fully redundant, diverse power sources active on site, fully redundant, diverse lit fiber connectivity active on site via the Mid Atlantic Broadband Cooperative and access to talented labor pools in the Washington, DC and Research Triangle metropolitan areas.
There are also business location incentive packages available from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Halifax County and other entities. Riverstone is located in a Federal HUB zone and is ready for immediate occupancy. Carpathia plans to conduct half-day campus tours with major system integrators and healthcare providers in mid-October, says the company.
"The Riverstone campus is uniquely qualified to meet the rapidly growing needs of government and enterprise customers that demand the highest level of security and availability," says Rick Smith, CEO of Carpathia. "Our plans for the campus include the design and build of a high security, mission critical datacenter to meet the needs of a variety of potential users. We believe that the healthcare industry in particular is in need of a highly secure facility built to keep pace with the growing requirements for storage and security brought on by regulatory oversight."
