September 10, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider SoftLayer (softlayer.com) announced on Tuesday it has been awarded Microsoft Hosting Competency certification, requiring on-staff Microsoft Certified Technical Professionals.

The company says the certification is a part of its continuing commitment to set the highest standards in customer service and support.

SoftLayer first attained Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status last year, with certified expertise and service in networking infrastructure solutions, advanced infrastructure solutions, hosting solutions specialization and storage solutions specialization.

Microsoft Hosting Competency is a continuous certification that verifies a technical staff possesses proficiency in various hosting areas.

The certification is offered for technical professionals with more than two years of experience in managing a Windows-based network.

It requires the demonstration of various abilities including planning the environment, deploying core infrastructure, deploying all related services, designing and configuring automated provisioning, administering, managing and optimizing the solutions, and troubleshooting the environment.

Last week, shared hosting provider midPhase announced it has begun a significant and complete migration to web hosting SoftLayer facility.
