September 8, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Virtualization solutions provider VMware (vmware.com) announced on Monday it expects a record 14,000 attendees at VMworld 2008 (vmworld2008.com), the company's fifth annual virtualization conference being held at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas from September 15 to 18.
With each year, the VMware event continues to grow significantly in attendance and size. VMworld 2006 brought in about 6,700 individuals, while last year's numbers increased to 11,000. This year's projection of 14,000 represents a 30 percent increase over last year's attendance.
That same week in Vegas proves to be a busy one for the industry, with Tier1 Research's Hosting Transformation Summit (hostingtransformation.com/na/2008/) being held across the street at The Mirage Hotel and Casino on September 15 to 17, followed by The 451 Group's 2008 Infrastructure Computing for the Enterprise Summit on September 18.
VMworld 2008 will kick off on September 15 with its VIP community event, VMware Partner Day, where more than 2,000 representatives from VMware partners, sales professionals and technical experts will learn about key strategies and best practices designed to accelerate their VMware sales initiatives during VMworld and beyond.
With its theme, "Virtually Anything is Possible," VMworld 2008 will celebrate the virtual possibilities, featuring more than 100 success stories from VMware customers including AT&T, Burt's Bees, Chevron, eBay, First American, Nationwide, Qualcomm, Siemens AG, United Bancorp and Whirlpool.
VMworld 2008 will feature more than 300 breakout sessions in seven tracks, including automating the virtual data center, building business continuity and disaster recovery, exploring technology and architecture, planning and operations in the data center, running enterprise applications in virtual machines, virtualization 101, and virtualizing the desktop.
The event will also feature 13 instructor-led and five self-paced labs with nearly 8,000 total lab seats.
More than 200 sponsors and exhibitors are supporting the conference, including Platinum Sponsors Cisco, Dell, EMC, HP, IBM, Intel, NEC, NetApp and Symantec who will be delivering keynotes.
Keynote presentations will include VMware president and CEO Paul Maritz presentation on September 16 at 8 a.m., where he will look back at the roots of virtualization history to current industry trends that are influencing VMware's future and its solutions, including data center infrastructure, desktop and cloud technology.
Additionally, VMware CTO Dr. Stephen Herrod will present his keynote on September 17 at 8 a.m. Both presentations will be available via live webcast here.
