DNS Europe Offers 3Tera AppLogic

By Justin Lee, theWHIR.com

September 4, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Utility computing technology developer 3Tera (3tera.com) and European web hosting provider DNS Europe (dnseurope.net) announced on Thursday that they are offering Grid Hosting services powered by 3Tera's AppLogic Grid OS.

DNS Europe's dual-facility grid hosting services will provide European customer with the option of UK or South Eastern European Grid Hosting and outsourced multi-tier AppLogic support services.

The web host says it will initially offer 3Tera's Virtual Grid Server and Virtual Data Center products to meet the current market demand.

"DNS Europe offers not only a true utility computing environment, but also provides managed services and outsourced development for their customers," says Bert Armijo, senior vice president of sales, marketing and product management at 3tera. "This is an excellent condition for users, seeking to meet the dual challenges of reducing infrastructure costs while increasing volume, adding features and expanding the reach of their Web services. We are excited to see the next level of interest from both web companies and SaaS vendors to our partners offerings."

3Tera says its AppLogic grid operating system is the first commercial platform designed specifically to enable true utility computing, enabling the conversion of commodity servers into scalable grids on which users can visually deploy, operate and scale transactional web applications without any modification of code.

3Tera is considered within the industry to be an innovator of cloud computing technology and utility computing services. The company's AppLogic grid operating system enables the first true utility computing services to completely remove the cost and complexity associated with infrastructure.

Though it has been relatively quiet at 3Tera in the past few months, save for a lone announcement in June where the company began adding support for Sun's Solaris10 and OpenSolaris, the cloud computing movement as a whole has continued to gain significant momentum.

In recent months, cloud technology providers such as Amazon, IBM, and Terremark have all announced new initiatives and offerings. Last month IBM opened its ninth cloud computing center in Tokyo, while Terremark began offering its own enterprise cloud computing in June with a new managed platform for mission-critical applications and infrastructure.

DNS Europe Ltd provides customers across Europe with services and solutions ranging from grid hosting, outsourcing, and ISP systems integration to product development and consultancy.

Headquartered in London, UK-based with fully-managed resources in Belgrade, Serbia, DNS Europe provides data centre hosting facilities from both locations and low-cost support and development resources from its Belgrade outsourcing facility.
