August 27, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center storage technologies provider Promise Technology (promise.com) announced on Wednesday it has joined The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org), a global organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.
The Green Grid strives to promote the adoption of energy efficient standards, processes, measurements and technologies. The organization is comprised of an interactive body of members who share and improve current best practices around data center efficiency.
By joining The Green Grid, Promise Technology is helping influence both developers and end users of data center technology.
News of Promise Technology joining The Green Grid marks the latest in a series of recent membership announcements for the global organization, including ASHRAE, AT&T Services, and STRATO.
Last week, The Green Grid announced it will be working with ASHRAE to produce documents providing guidance on data center design.
The same week, power analytics software developer EDSA announced it released its PaladinLive PUE-DCiE Advisor, the first power analytics software program that calculates and presents power efficiency ratings using standards developed by The Green Grid.
The Green Grid's scope includes collaboration with end users and government organizations worldwide to ensure that each organizational goal is aligned with both developers and users of data center technology.
"Promise Technology is very pleased to be a part of The Green Grid and its quest to improve overall data center efficiencies," says Sam Sirisena, general manager of Promise Technology's Advanced Storage Group. "As a major supplier of enterprise-class RAID solutions, we hope to do our part to advance the innovations for improving energy-savings in the data center. As storage needs grow, so do the requirements for green technologies to minimize our environmental footprint and IT costs."
The Milpitas, California-based company says it has currently deployed over 15 million RAID installations worldwide, delivering storage products across all market segments.
Promise Technology offers a SAS/SATA storage product line including rack-mount RAID enclosures for SAN and DAS applications, PCIe RAID controllers for servers and workstations, NAS systems for SOHO and RAID ASICs for embedded applications.
