HostingPanama Gets Parallels Gold

By Justin Lee, theWHIR.com

August 25, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Offshore web hosting provider HostingPanama (hostingpanama.com) announced on Monday it has been named a Gold partner by web hosting software provider Parallels (parallels.com).

Like other Parallels Gold partners, HostingPanama receives a range of benefits through the Service Provider Partner Program, including volume licensing software discounts, access to exclusive tools and web resources that will enable the web host to broaden its global customer reach.

Parallels provides HostingPanama with priority technical support through direct access to Parallels engineers and programmers to better support its large deployment of Parallels technologies, which HostingPanama then effectively packages and deploys to generate more focused results for its customers.

Parallels says its Gold partners are service providers that usually serve a national or regional customer base and often operate their own data centers. These types of partners have typically made significant investments in their infrastructure and use automation to streamline their business processes.

Gold partners also tend to have been in business for over five years and have grown into the Gold level through working with Parallels channel account managers that provide advice on their go-to-market strategy, marketing, and service plans.

Last month, E-commerce software provider Interspire achieved Gold Technology Partner status with Parallels.

"As a Gold Partner in Parallels' Service Provider Partner Program, we are able to leverage a plethora of marketing and operational resources to further develop the services we provide to our clients," says Eduardo Vila, chief sales officer of HostingPanama. "I view this partnership as an opportunity to increase the scale and scope of our virtualization and automaton services, and I look forward to the continued progression of our relationship with Parallels."

Based in Panama City, HostingPanama provides hosting services, dedicated servers and colocation services to customers in Panama, as well as offshore hosting services for businesses in North America and Europe.

Offshore hosting is the practice of a company offering hosting services from servers located in a country like Panama, which does not have the same kinds of governmental restrictions as countries in North America and Europe.

Though the company tends to promote its services with an emphasis on privacy, its acceptable uses policy explicitly states that HostingPanama is not interested in hosting illegal sites, saying "Confidential + Private + Offshore does not give you a criminal safe haven, it gives you freedom and privacy."

In June, HostingPanama launched its Xpass service, a secure proxy service that enables customers to browse the web from a Panama-based IP address by creating a high-speed and secure proxy connection to the Internet using the web host's infrastructure.
