August 23, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Google's blogging service Blogger (blogger.com) was offline for an hour early Wednesday after experiencing performance problems, reports Web analytics firm Netcraft (netcraft.com).
As one of the oldest and largest blogging services available, Blogger hosts several million free blogs. Google "apologized profusely" for the service interruption.
The search engine giant reported on its Blogger status page (status.blogger.com) that both Blogger and Blog*Spot had encountered an unexpected outage for an hour Wednesday morning, starting around 7 a.m. PDT.
The company failed to offer any additional information about the cause of the outage. The Google search engine and other services remained unaffected, as the outage seemed to have been isolated to Blogger and blogspot.com.
