August 20, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Canadian managed hosting and colocation services provider Momentum Advanced Solutions (momentum.com) announced on Wednesday it has acquired the IT hosting division of web hosting provider BroadSpire (broadspire.com).
Momentum purchased the IT hosting business for $2.66 million before transaction costs with $1.7 million in cash on closing and the remaining balance in a note payable over 24 months, with payments beginning six months after the closing date.
The addition of the BroadSpire division is expected to add about $1.5 million to Momentum's current managed services revenues, says the company.
"Momentum has a 25 year history and a leadership position in large scale, enterprise level, managed hosting," says Phil DeLeon, president of Momentum. "Over the past year, we also added services directed at small and medium sized businesses. We believe that our broad experience will ensure a seamless transition for customers who will now benefit from our expanded service offerings."
Momentum says it provides IT hosting and managed website services for some of the world s largest companies. The company holds SAS70 certification, four Microsoft Gold certifications, three data center locations and over 150 technical support experts. Since forming in 1997, BroadSpire has offered web hosting as a component of a broader portfolio of services.
In March, Momentum partnered with an unnamed company it called "the Canadian arm of one of the world's top five technology resellers," enabling it to offer a range of hosting and managed services to the partner's customer base.

So far, the transition has not been smooth. Our email server has been down for 48 hours.

Broadspire is a company that does NOT stand by their word, and provides service that is severely substandard.
