August 20, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator and hosting provider Terremark Worldwide (terremark.com) announced on Wednesday that Preferred Hotel Group (preferredhotelgroup.com) will use Terremark's Enterprise Cloud services to meet the disaster recovery needs of its mission-critical applications, including its online reservation system.
Preferred Hotel Group says it has had 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, delivering high-performance sales, marketing and technology solutions to more than 650 independent hotels and resorts in over 75 countries.
The agreement with Preferred Hotel Group marks one of the first major customer announcements for its new managed platform, The Enterprise Cloud, which was launched in June. The Enterprise Cloud enables customers to quickly provision computing resources for mission-critical applications in a matter of minutes.
As an alternative to buying expensive servers, Enterprise Cloud services enables companies to deploy server capacity on demand through controlling a resource pool of processing, storage and networking capabilities.
"Terremark's Enterprise Cloud provides us the flexibility and control to provision our IT infrastructure to service the real-time needs of our business," says Lindsey Ueberroth, executive vice president of Preferred Hotel Group. "By purchasing a dedicated pool of computing resources and allocating them as needed, we can respond in real-time to situations that may affect our operations."
The Enterprise Cloud features an enhanced version of Terremark's Infinistructure utility computing platform, which leverages the company's top-tier data centers in United States, Europe and Latin America with access to massive and diverse network connectivity
At the core of Terremark's Enterprise Cloud is the company's new web portal, which enables customers to provision servers from a pre-allocated pool of dedicated computing resources.
