August 15, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Chicago-based managed hosting provider SingleHop (singlehop.com) has announced its new Supercharged Harpertown server series sold out in less than 48 hours of their release.
According to SingleHop's announcement Friday, the unprecedented sales of its new server line was helped by the sales of more than 400 pre-sold servers, pegged as "the future of dedicated servers" when SingleHop sent RSVP invitations in late July.
"It's exciting to see a successful launch of another series but it's even more exciting at how well our systems and technicians worked to deploy the servers within the 48 hour timeframe," SingleHop founder and president Zak Boca said in a statement. "Our advanced provisioning system saved well over 200 hours of man[hours], delivering servers to our clients faster and more efficiently than we've seen [before]."
SingleHop pre-ordering customers got the new servers for $199, while the regular price was $299. Boca said the first server in the Supercharged was the quad-core, Intel Xeon 5410 Harpertown with some new add-ons. "We added 6GB of RAM because RAM is where almost every large website bottlenecks first."
In addition to its new, Harpertown offering, sales of SingleHop's PARAMOUNT server line, which is geared toward small and medium-sized businesses, accounted for 40 percent of business growth in the second quarter of 2008, making it SingleHop's most popular line according to the company.
