1&1 Offers New Dedicated Servers

By Justin Lee, theWHIR.com

August 13, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- UK managed dedicated hosting provider 1&1 Internet (1and1.co.uk) announced on Wednesday it has introduced a new line of dedicated servers that features energy saving AMD processors, large quotas of RAM and hard disk space, and RAID 1 or RAID 5 technology, all at an affordable price.

Priced from £69.99 per month, plus VAT, 1&1 dedicated servers are available in Linux, Windows or Managed configurations. They feature 1&1's 100MBit data transfer flat rate, as well as 1&1's 135 GBit connectivity via its own pan-European backbone.

The company has also launched a further value range of servers priced from £29.99 per month plus VAT that are designed for a range of uses such as game servers or email servers.

1&1's new range of dedicated servers include the Business Server I with 250GB disks, priced from £69 per month plus VAT, and Business Server II with 500GB disks, priced from £109 per month plus VAT. Both dedicated servers feature software RAID1.

Additionally, the Business Server III with 750GB disks is priced from £149 per month plus VAT, while Enterprise Server I with 1000GB disks is priced from £199 per month plus VAT. Both servers feature hardware RAID1 technology.

1&1's new flagship server, the Enterprise Server II, features 1500GB disk space and RAID5 technology. It is priced from £249 per month plus VAT.

RAID technology, featured across the new range, helps increase server reliability through protecting the data stored on hard disk drives from disk errors. It also provides faster restore in the event of hard disk failures.

The web host says its new 1&1 dedicated server range offers a "new level of performance and reliability for application testing and deployment," as well as running CRM. 1&1's new Enterprise Server II offers the user dynamic and robust capabilities for running even the most intensive database applications, deployment of resource hungry applications and virtualization.

"Whilst 1&1 is perhaps most well known for its web hosting innovations, we continue to invest much of our resource in pushing the boundaries of dedicated server packages," says Oliver Mauss, CEO 1&1 Internet. "Users' work can be transformed from having access to enterprise-level technologies such as RAID5, and we will continue to bring such developments within reach of as many users as possible."

1&1 dedicated servers are powered by electricity from renewable resources like wind, water, or solar energy. This use of renewable power, as well as highly efficient hardware and software, helps reduce approximately 30,000 tons of CO2 per year.

For the month of June, 1&1 offered the first three months free on its MS Exchange email package for all new MS Exchange customers.
