August 7, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Verio (verio.com) agreed to host 18 Ann Arbor, Michigan charity web sites until January 2010, giving them the opportunity to understand how online presence can help them gain wider support, connect with their members and maintain information more accurately and transparently.
In July, Verio employees built websites as part of the weekend-long Ann Arbor Give Camp (annarborgivecamp.org) at Washtenaw Community College in which software developers, designers and database administrators donated their skills and time to create custom software for non-profit organizations.
Factoring in the familiarity these organizations had with Microsoft, Verio chose to provide exclusively Microsoft-based accounts on IIS6 platforms including asp.net 3.5 and SQL Express designed for ease-of-use and accessibility for novice users.
According to Ann Arbor Give Camp organizers, there is an expectation that "what happens at give camp, stays at give camp," meaning all source code must be turned over to the charities at the end of the weekend.
