July 30, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Managed hosting and data centre services provider iomart (iomart.com) announced on Tuesday it has reported a 17 percent rise in its sales of managed hosting services in the financial year 2007 to 2008.
Revenues from its data centre and managed services company have increased by 63 percent to £1.4 million, with its established SME web hosting business, Easyspace, seeing a rise of 9 percent to £6.3 million.
Iomart says it will use the proceeds of the Ufindus sale to seek acquisition options over the next 12 months.
"This has been a transformational year with the successful sale of Ufindus for £20 million and the development of our complex managed hosting business using our own network of carrier neutral data centers," says Angus MacSween, iomart's CEO. "We are now well positioned to address our chosen market with the firepower to make strategic acquisitions in combination with our organic growth."
In February 2007, iomart purchased four data centers and has since opened two fully-refurbished facilities ? on in Glasgow, Scotland and one in London, UK. A third facility will be launched in Nottingham, UK next week, and the fourth in Leicester, UK, which is expected to be ready for business during August.
Despite investing £3 million in its data centre infrastructure over the year, the group's profitability has suffered limited impact with EBITDA of £1 million, compared to £1.3 million in 2007.
The data centre investment allows the company to offer its corporate clients a guarantee of 100 percent uptime, as the company can now offer a full end to end service proposition from domain name through to data center.
