July 30, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Service automation and virtualization provider SWsoft (swsoft.com) announced on Friday that Czech Republic Web hosting provider IGNUM (ignum.cz) has selected the SWsoft Virtuozzo virtualization solution to power its virtual private server offerings.
VPS hosting is a relatively new technology in the Czech market, enabling users to bridge the gap between shared hosting and dedicated servers. Virtuozzo operating system virtualization software uses patented technology to create multiple, isolated virtual environments -- or virtual private servers -- on a single physical server and operating system, making the most efficient use of hardware, software and other resources.
"SWsoft's Virtuozzo solution gave IGNUM an opportunity to bring the benefits of virtualization technology to its customers in the Czech Republic," says Soeren von Varchmin, managing director of European/Asian operations for SWsoft. "Virtuozzo delivers the best of our OPEN FUSION technology initiative, which in the future will help IGNUM take advantage of emerging business opportunities such as software as a service."
IGNUM began offering Virtuozzo-powered VPS hosting services in mid-April. Two-thirds of those customers are using the Linux platform, while the rest are using Windows.
