Announced Tuesday, mValent is the latest company announcing PCI DSS compliance, a standard set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council (pcisecuritystandards.org). Earlier this week, web host and domain registrar Go Daddy deployed SecureSphere to make it able to meet the PCI DSS deadline of June 30 for complying with requirement 6.6.

The core mValent Integrity product enables IT teams to capture the current state of code and configuration settings for application environments, monitor them for authorized and rogue changes, and automate processes for configuration provisioning, remediation and IT compliance. The new automation module preempt breaches by insuring that all systems where cardholder data are stored are configured.

Chief technology officer and co-founder of mValent James Tauber said the company has discovered huge gaps in PCI compliance and worked to fill them. "There are just so many areas where one tiny security crack enables a determined hacker to steal the digital identity of thousands," Tauber said in a statement. "It's exactly this kind of 'needle in the haystack' problem that we architected mValent Integrity to solve."

On Sunday, e-commerce software and services supplier Miva Merchant (mivamerchant.com) partnered with PCI compliance and e-ommerce security firm ControlScan (controlscan.com) to help its  erchants meet PCI DSS standards.

According to Atlanta-based ControlScan, Miva Merchant customers will have access to ControlScan's leading PCI compliance solution, enabling on-demand security scanning and the PCI Self Assessment Questionnaire.

They say websites displaying ControlScan's security certification seal will typically see a significant increase in online sales and a decrease in shopping cart abandonment.
