July 29, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Email management appliances and software provider AtMail (atmail.com) has launched AtMail Cluster Edition, a new web-based solution for monitoring and managing multiple email servers remotely.
According to AtMail's Tuesday announcement, the new offering will help enterprise customers and hosting firms respond quickly to interruptions in email service by allowing them to detect problems and provision back-up servers from any web browser.
AtMail vice president of sales and business development Corey Bissaillon said in an interview the benefits of AtMail are that "Users are happier when email just works, and admins are happy when users are happy - and they don't just fired."
Geared toward large-scale implementations, AtMail's clients include Verio, COX, and private colleges Princeton and Duke.
"For large-scale mailserver implementations, where delivery volume and resource usage are very dynamic, multiple servers working in concert are required to avoid denial of service -- accidental or intentional," Bissaillon said. "AtMail Cluster Edition allows multiple AtMail servers and dedicated database servers to be set up for redundancy and failover."
AtMail includes a web-based, graphic interface allowing users to view the status of and change an unlimited number of email servers. They can add and remove servers from the cluster, start and stop services, change which system is the primary backend, change primary backup systems and quickly revert from a backup.
AtMail Cluster, including software and hardware, is available starting at $15,000 and can be purchased as a stand-alone system or integrated into an AtMail Server system.
