July 11, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data storage device provider Iomega (iomega.com) announced on Tuesday it is buying managed services and outsourced information technology company CSCI (csciinc.com) for an undisclosed amount. The company says it is making the move in an attempt to get into the managed services arena.
Iomega will gain access to CSCI's OfficeScreen, a suite of managed virtual private networks that link offices and remote workers for small to medium-sized businesses. It will also acquire the company's systems integration business.
Iomega says it expects to grow the existing OfficeScreen business in the United States by selling its branded managed services through several different channels, including telecommunications providers, hosting companies, value-added resellers and systems integrators, direct and indirect sales organizations and retail operations.
The company plans to launch its new managed services in international markets before the end of the year. The deal is expected to close within 60 days.
