July 1, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Colo4Dallas (colo4dallas.com), a colocation provider unsurprisingly located in Dallas, Texas, said this week that it has more than tripled its available data center space with a few recent moves.
Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
The company said on Tuesday that it has purchased two buildings, and leased another nearby facility from Level 3 Communications. Together, the new deals bring the total of colocation space operated by the company to approximately 106,000 square feet.
Colo4Dallas says it completed the purchase of its current headquarters at 3000 Irving Boulevard in early May, along with the property directly next door at 3004 Irving. The company says it has already started construction on a project to "seamlessly integrate the two adjoining buildings," which, when complete, will create a flagship facility that includes more than 68,000 square feet of raised floor data center space.
In March, the company leased 38,000 square feet in the Level 3 data center located in the Stemmons Corridor, a stretch of commercial and industrial properties located in the northwest part of Dallas.
Quoted in the press release Colo4Dallas president and CTO Paul VanMeter says the expansion was driven largely by the increasing demand for "dependable, high quality data center space."
The company's website includes a flash tour of its facilities, which shows off what appears to be the 3000 Irving building.
"What's unique about Colo4Dallas is that we're able to meet the tremendous space and power needs of large enterprise customers who have their own technical staff, but also those of smaller customers who rely on us for 24/7 remote hands support," says VanMeter, quoted in the announcement. "With our additional square footage, we can accommodate businesses of all sizes as they grow and expand."
The company says it is already filling contracts for space in the new facilities even as the final touches are being put on their construction, including checks on power, environmental controls and security.
Colo4Dallas's expansion is one announcement on a long list of recent reports of data center expansions, which would seem to confirm the across-the-board increase in demand for data center space that is generally believed to be the case.
Interestingly, the announcement from Colo4Dallas doesn't contain any boastful language about the "green" status of the company's new facilities, which has very commonly been the case with most of the new data center announcements to come out in the last few months.
