June 26, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- San Diego-based cloud storage platform provider Nirvanix (nirvanix.com) has released a beta version of CloudNAS that turns a 1U server into multi-petabyte network-attached storage, creating a near-infinite storage gateway.
Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
"Nirvanix CloudNAS represents a significant advancement in cloud storage," Nirvanix CEO Patrick Harr said in a released Wednesday. "Previously, enterprises could only access cloud storage by programming to an API." said Patrick Harr, CEO of Nirvanix. "Now with CloudNAS, customers can immediately integrate Nirvanix's cloud storage into their existing applications and processes, and forego new purchases of expensive NetApp, EMC, IBM or other NAS products in favor of Nirvanix's storage-as-a-service offering."
CloudNAS attaches the Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network to a local network as a Windows or Linux filer using standard networking protocols. Users can then work with applications to which they are accustomed or drag and drop files from the desktop to Nirvanix's storage service optimized for media and large files.
According to a study commissioned by Nirvanix, the Nirvanix SDN is one-fifth or less the total cost of ownership of typical NAS vendor offerings.
Available for Linux-based NFS mount using RedHat 5 or Suse 10, and Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP, beta testers will be offered special licensing terms to upgrade to the full release after completing the beta program.
