June 26, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Rackspace Hosting's (rackspace.com) cloud division Mosso (mosso.com) announced on Wednesday it has added a new Mosso control panel and a new provisioning system for its flagship product, The Hosting Cloud, increasing cloud service capabilities and scalability.
Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
The new control panel makes it easier for customers to manage their applications, websites, databases and email accounts, says the company. Developed in-house, the tool was designed with a familiar look and feel of a modern desktop application, offering fast interaction, real-time messages and contextual feedback.
Meanwhile, Mosso says its new provisioning system helps increase performance, speed and functionality, reducing processing times from five minutes to under a minute. The platform was built using Apache ServiceMix, providing a scalable integration point for both existing and new services.
The new Mosso tools were designed to achieve scalability, and have the ability to process millions of simultaneous requests, says the company.
"Our latest architectural improvements take this concept to the next level, giving our customers more control over their applications than ever before, and backing it up with a provisioning environment that will help ensure that they can scale to meet future demand," says Jonathan Bryce, Mosso co-founder.
The control panel adds new usability features including a web-based file manager that provides users with a web-based view of their storage environment. The tool enables users to perform advanced operations that would typically require shell access, such as creating and decompressing archives, or changing permissions.
Another important feature is the new snapshot tool, enabling users to access and reinstate previous versions of their files. The feature, which would come in handy in the case of a accidental overwrite, takes a "picture" of the system every few hours, maintaining file versions on a rolling basis through midnight CST up to four days prior.
Mosso provides hosting platform, The Hosting Cloud, and its newly launched online storage offering, CloudFS. The company says its managed interface enables developers, designers and IT managers to deploy reliable web applications quickly with a high performance cloud-based storage service.
