The period of short outages, a Facebook spokesman told the BBC the outage is not thought to have affected every country, however, according to UK Internet services company Netcraft (netcraft.com), the site was be unavailable from all of its performance collecting locations including London, Pennsylvania, San Jose, Phoenix, New York, Virginia and Italy.

Since late Wednesday, when users were shut out of their profiles, the outage has been resolved.
With about 80 million members, Facebook is the 33rd most visited site according to Netcraft data, placing it ahead of Fox Sports, BBC News and Microsoft.com.
Figures show that Facebook logged nearly 125 million visitors in May alone, putting it ahead of main rival MySpace (myspace.com) with 115 million visitors.
"Some of our users had difficulties accessing Facebook today," the spokesperson said to the BBC. "The site has now been fully restored and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."
