June 18, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Engine research and development company Analytical Engineering (aei-tech.com) announced on Tuesday that it has launched its new sister company, Data Cave, according to a report in IndyStar.com, the website of The Indianapolis Star.
The new company's first order of business will be to build a new data center and create 25 new jobs in Columbus, Indiana.
The midwest has become a hotbed of activity for data center developments in recent years, with its cheap land and warm climate. Last week, the Bank of America announced plans to spend approximately $90 million dollars to expand its data center in Platte County, Kansas City.
With a price tag of more than $7 million, the two-story 78,000-square-foot high-security data center will stand next to Analytical Engineering's facility in the southern part of Columbus, according to the Indiana Economic Development.
Data Cave will begin building the reinforced data storage center next month. The company will then form a team of IT technicians later this year to operate the center's servers and network infrastructure, says the IEDC.
As part of Data Cave's job creation plans, the IEDC will reward the data center operator up to $225,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $36,500 in training grants.
The facility will act as an off-site secure data storage center for worldwide businesses.
Data Cave will use various tools, including biometric hand scanner access, redundant fiber optic connectivity, supplemental power protection and a reinforced exterior to safeguard customers' data from both natural and human threats.
In other data center news this week, startup Advanced Data Centers has undergone construction of its first facility, which is designed to be environmentally friendly.
