In what has been called the worst flooding in the Midwest in half a century, the flooding began June 7 and has continued since then. By June 13, water reached 33 feet above flood level, flooding most of downtown Cedar Rapids and forcing the city to evacuate 24,000 residents of the state's second largest city.

Go Daddy, who has facilities in Iowa that have not been affected, decided to make a donation Friday afternoon, according to a letter sent by company CEO Bob Parsons.

Company representatives who work in the area also are volunteering their time as flooding has crippled the state and other parts of the Midwest.

In addition to financial donation, Go Daddy is donating new clothing, water, food and sanitizers to various local shelters in Iowa.

The company has been actively involved in philanthropic work in the past. Last year, Go Daddy made approximately $1.4 million in charity donations alone, helping organizations dedicated to a variety of causes, including domestic violence, child abuse, blind children, unwed mothers, homelessness, Parkinson's disease, Juvenile Diabetes, food banks and animal shelter.

Another web hosting provider that recently announced plans to lend their efforts to victims of another natural disaster is Cirtex, who will support earthquake rescue and recovery efforts in China through fundraising and in-kind donations.
