June 10, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- IT infrastructure provider INX (inxi.com) announced on Monday it has acquired the operations of AccessFlow, a consulting firm in the area of data center virtualization with a particular focus on delivering VMware-based solutions.
Based in Sacramento, California, INX says AccessFlow is an award winning VMware Premier and Gold Certified VAC Partner and is apparently one of the first VMware partners experienced in VMware's new Site Recovery Manager product, the company's recently launched automated disaster recovery management solution. AccessFlow currently has 30 employees of which 17 are solutions engineers.
"As we have been communicating to INX stockholders over the past eighteen months, one of INX's key growth strategies is to expand into a very few, very select adjacent and complementary technologies," says James Long, chairman and CEO of INX. "This is part of our strategy to capitalize on the increasing interrelation of the IP network with data center technology."
INX's initial entry into the data center market was through the addition of a network storage solutions provider over 18 months ago, the name of which has been undisclosed. Long says this new practice area grew over 240 percent in 2007 to make up over four percent of INX's total 2007 revenue.
"Virtualization is highly adjacent, from a technology perspective, as well as highly complementary, to both the data center network solutions and data center storage solutions that we provide," says Long. "With the AccessFlow acquisition, INX is adding a very complementary focused virtualization practice area with one of the leading groups of technical talent in the virtualization space, and firmly establishing a strong presence in the market for server and data center virtualization."
INX says the acquisition closed on June 6 and was structured as a purchase of the ongoing operations of AccessFlow by INX. Financial details of the transaction were undisclosed.
Over the past week there have been at least two other instances of fairly prominent acquisition announcements. On Monday, ISP Sitestar reported it has acquired the dial-up and hosting customers as well as other assets of Oklahoma-based Internet service provider, AdaNet.
And last Wednesday, web hosting provider HostMySite announced it has been acquired by Wachovia Capital Partners, the private equity arm of the Wachovia Corporation bank.
