June 4, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- In a data center announcement that includes an expansion at a smaller company within the facilities of a larger colocation firm, Equinix (equinix.com) announced this week that hosting provider Logicworks (logicworks.com) would be expanding its operations into Equinix's New York 4 Internet Business Exchange in Seacaucus, New Jersey.
Equinix says the aptly-named NY4 facility is its fourth in the New York metro area, and the company's largest in the united states, covering 340,000 square feet of space.
Logicworks says it "designs fully fault-tolerant systems for its growing client base," and intends to deploy servers, storage arrays, network and other equipment into the NY4 facility to aid in that effort.
"Equinix's facility includes the most modern design, power, cooling and security provisioning, all of which were deciding factors in our facilities expansion," says Kenneth Ziegler, president and COO of Logicworks, in the press release. "Our clients require the highest level of system availability. Equinix understands facility management and capacity planning at a level we can appreciate given our experience utilizing these services. Their new facilities are a natural fit with Logicworks' core mission of keeping our complex hosting clients up and running 100 percent of the time."
According to the announcement, Logicworks is looking to expand into Equinix's West Coast facilities later this year.
Last week, Equinix reported that it had obtained green certification for all four of its Silicon Valley IBX facilities.
