The company, which has been around for approximately a year and operates using facilities based in Terremark's NAP of the Americas in Miami and multi-gigabit networks managed by Internap, says its resellers will have access to volume discounts of up to 20 percent, NOC level support access and the company's application programming interface features.

According to the reseller section of NewServers' website, the degree of discount is dependent on the number of servers employed by the reseller, with those discounts ranging from 10 to 20 percent.

The API access will enable resellers to integrate with NewServers' NOC automation functions, including server activating and de-activating, a real-time inventory list, active server information, billing information and reboot control.

NewServers announced in early May that it had introduced per-hour billing for its services, which provide on-demand computing capacity, using dedicated machines, rather than the kind of virtualization customers see with offerings like Amazon's EC2, Mosso's Hosting Cloud or Layered Technology's GridLayer.

According to NewServers, the API access it is providing to resellers will eliminate some of the barriers to success encountered by dedicated server resellers in the past.

"Traditionally, the sales efforts of dedicated server resellers of all types have been inhibited by the long and inconsistent server provisioning and ticket resolution times of their provider," says JP Gagne, president of NewServers, in the company's press release. "NewServers solves that problem with our API and NOC automation that extends self serve on-demand provisioning and canceling directly to the reseller."

NewServers says resellers will also be able to "become certified in multiple value added service categories" such as managed services, and to market those services on sections of the company's website.
