May 25, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider Advanced Internet Technologies (ait.com) announced on Thursday that it has launched tyBit (tybit.com), a client-side Internet search application.
AIT CEO Clarence Briggs introduced the product during his keynote address at ISPCON Spring 2007. AIT says tyBit is a paradigm shift for online search moving away from the centralized search engine model to a client side application that decentralizes Web crawling, indexing and browser content delivery.
Briggs says tyBit provides accelerated search and maximizes relevancy by enabling users to search the Web quickly and thoroughly, instantly submitting search queries to multiple online directories, search engines and other data sources in the public domain displaying all of the results in a single window on the desktop or PDA.
TyBit also has the ability to learn its subscribers' preferences, searching multiple sources, displaying the most current information and searching local content based on a subscriber's actual location. Briggs says the product also offers privacy protection, prevents click fraud and has the ability to detect malware, says Briggs.
AIT has long been a vocal opponent of dubious pay-per-click advertising behavior, seeking to hold both click fraud culprits and search engines legally responsible.
"For years now, we service providers have been held hostage by the tyrannical rule of many of the major centralized search engines. They set up an affiliate model to sell and deliver online pay-per-click ads that are fundamentally flawed," says Briggs. "We are taking the power away from the few search engines and putting it in the hands of the many service providers and their customers, the ones who actually do the searches. We are putting it all out in the open, letting the advertisers see who is clicking on their ads. I am so passionate about this fight and about this product that I have decided to step down from my position as CEO of AIT at the end of the year."
Earlier this week, AIT awarded information technology scholarships to two members of the Braxton Brigg chapter of the Association of the US Army.
