May 22, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Software as a service provider Salesforce.com (salesforce.com) announced on Thursday it is building its first international data center in Singapore.
Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.
This Salesforce news continues a wave of data center announcements we've been seeing over the past month. Just last week, Premier Technical Services reported it is investing $16.5 million to construct a new data center in Page County, Virginia. While Peak 10 announced it is expanding its Louisville, Kentucky operations by adding a third data center to support the "high demand" for the company's services in the region.
The company says this is the first data center it is building outside of the US and is expected to go live before the end of the year.
According to reports on TMCnet, Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce, says the growth the company has been experiencing as of late, as well as the "technically literate and multi-lingual talent pool, make Singapore the perfect location," for its expansion.
The company says its Asia Pacific customer base has doubled over the last 12 months. Some of the new clients include Amcor, CGU Insurance, Fight Center, Ottagi and Telecom New Zealand. Last week, Salesforce also announced that Canon Marketing Japan has deployed its mobile product to around 1,100 users.
Salesforce is also setting up a network operations center in Singapore to monitor the company's data centers in North America and Singapore and is investing in additional facilities and employees at its Asia Pacific headquarters to support this.
In April, Salesforce reported that it had expanded an existing partnership with search engine giant Google by integrating Google Apps into Salesforce's CRM and office software.
