The organization said on Tuesday that it had appointed Maureen Versen, head of commercial real estate and data center initiatives at Siemens Building Technologies, and Tim Hazzard, president and general manager at Connectivity Technologies to the institute's board.
AFCOM's Data Center Institute was founded in 2001, and is "composed of forward-thinking data center managers, solution providers and industry leaders." The group's charter charges it with identifying and examining issues and trends affecting the data center and providing "thought ledership" to the industry and media.
"The data center industry has a demanding road ahead," says Versen, in the AFCOM press release. "Energy costs and the threat of regulation are challenging companies such as Siemens to look for new ways to cool data centers in an efficient manner without sacrificing uptime. I'm honored to be on the Data Center Institute board among other industry leaders collaborating to address these challenges for the benefit of all."
Along with the industry thinking, AFCOM is well-known for hosting data center industry events. The company's Data Center World spring took place in March of this year, and its next event is scheduled for October, in Orlando , Florida.
