Perimeter Adds Backup and Recovery

May 20, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- On-demand security solutions provider Perimeter eSecurity (perimeterusa.com) launched a new service this week, adding remote backup and recovery to its existing set of services.

Why use a vendor when you can choose a partner? DataPipe delivers highly customized solutions to meet your unique IT needs. World-class data centers in the U.S., London & China. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.

The company announced on Monday that it would be providing an automated and on-demand service designed to let businesses back up their data. The company says the service keeps the data available and securely stored, and meets with compliance requirements.

Perimeter offers a suite of more than 50 security services that it divides into the categories intrusion defense, vulnerability defense, system defense, network defense, user defense and email defense. Remote backup is considered one of the company's system defense services.

The RBR service can be scheduled to conduct full, partial or incremental backups at any time. And customers can access other systems while backups are occurring.

Perimeter says the service is designed to be used both by IT managers and by customers with little computer experience. The RBR product's software agent can customize a range of preferences, including data retention policies. And clients can retrieve historical vile versions or restore the entire system to a specific point in time.

Perimeter says the key features of the service include secure offsite data storage, a choice of multiple encryption methods, broad digital file support, automated email confirmations, extreme file compression, sophisticated file search and continuous system updates.

The service encrypts files locally before they leave the customer's system to ensure data security, says Perimeter. Each file is then replicated and delivered to Perimeter's two storage facilities. The files are then stored and can not be viewed until they are decrypted by the client using an access key.

"Reliable data backup protection is an essential business practice for organizations of all sizes in many industries, especially those covered under Federal regulations such as, HIPAA or FFIEC," says Doug Howard, Perimeter's chief strategy officer, in the press release. "This offering draws on our expertise in offering reliable and secure IT services to financial services and healthcare organizations to meet their compliance needs. It also demonstrates our commitment and ongoing focus to bring affordable, state-of-the-art services to companies of all sizes in a SaaS model."

Last week, Perimeter announced that "virtual marketing and distribution services company" Tricomix Technology (tricomix.com) would be offering Perimeter's security services, along with its hosted email, compliance and archiving services to technology partners and value added resellers.

The company said Tricomix would be a "powered by perimeter" partner, able to provide its customers with access to Perimeter's entire set of security services.

Perimeter has a PDF of information on its RBR service hosted on its website.
